The World is at your feet

Image: Sneha

What makes one tick? What is that one thing about you that brings a smile on others face? Can you satisfy all at the same time? If there were things which you could do would you? If given a chance can you go back to a time frame when life smiled without any fissures?

All these queries temper a wandering mind. That big "If" hides a number of possibilities. Either you take the plunge or stay surfaced and wallow in the eroding shadows. There are times when you feel it is possible to run after that dream which kept you awake for ages. Then, sudden breaks and jerks dwindle that hope and you try to swim afloat. It is all a mind game.

A few days back ago, somebody asked me whether I believe in destiny. Of course, I do. If destiny has not touched your life, nothing will. It is the biggest creator and destroyer of your moments, desires and goals. It is a raptured shadow, a waxing moon, a cloudy sky, a half-built dream and sometimes it is a burst of mellow, serene, serendipitous companion.

The journey of expectations and fulfillment can be heartwrenching. But it deserves a chance. There might be better things stored and one can find that anchor one always hoped for.

A Beginning

Day-31 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Endless (Form: A to Z )

Image: Sneha

Dear OctPoWriMo,

As I Surrendered, Poems and Notes to you

Believe me, a life lived in Insecurity, found peace

Converging with like-minded wordsmiths and other Strange animals

Denied for too long hope smiled

Eagerly Conquered the past ghosts

For, many Unsent Letters were written

Gladly singing, In Moments of Madness the

Heart bled, with Love flowing

In  the Dancing on Air blushes and cried when

Joy shattered while Falling Through the Cracks

Kindred Tortured souls always questioned

Life, If I were you, If I were me

Mostly wondering, If emotions were an Umbrella when

Nobody around to Catch me when I fall

Over the hill, when Madness Reigns,

Poetic words reflected  on Once upon a Time fairy tales

Questioning What do you want?

Reality!When Time Stand Still

Sometimes, I was left puzzled. How will I know?

The Betrayed blood never

Understands and See Me

Veering in my wounds

When the Doors goes both ways

Xeroxing shadows Inside Out

Yearning for comfort. Pain! What color is it?

Zest for life Split in two dimensions, By the number game in an Endless quest.

Thank you for giving  me this platform

To mend and heal the oozing wounds.

You cleansed the soul in your warm embrace

In flowing waters of verses and introspective moods.

Yours ever grateful...

(Thanks to all poets who were part of this wonderful journey. May your pen always ink those blank pages of life)

Thoughts

Tread in silently, with,

Tons of  reflecting words

Touching old wounds, and still,

Trumpet a victory,

The Number Game

Day-29 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: By the Numbers (Form: Free Verse)

Numbers rule our world

From birth to death

There are countless ones and zeroes

Circumnavigating the cycle of tomorrows

Every moment is a centrifugal force

The time fixed birth

The time fixed death

The time fixed vows

The nuptial bonds

Where numbers play a game.

Zero is a mystery

A formless entity

An illusion of metaphysical quality.

The dynamics of ONE

Known to everyone

It rules the heart and mind.

The holy trinity

A force to reckon with

The cyclic creation and destruction

Run in its orbital path.

Numbers create life

Numbers breathe life

The thirty-six qualities

Bind and lie

And our destiny revolves

In their clutches

Till we embrace the ashes.

Dilemma

Day-28  OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Split in Two  (Form: A  Riddle)

A leaf       tough and fragile

Fate strewn stones        lost storms brewed.

An imperfect       puzzle  formed

The stalk and green     the stamen too

A mirror               split in two

His reflection       ringed round  chasm

Her image             sharp shaded shadows

Choices call            chances troll unsung

Cannot mend        the broken arrows.

Colors of Life

Day-27 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: What Color Is It? ( Form: Free Verse)

Image: Ather

I see a panorama
splashed with varied hues
in happiness and in sadness
in the warm smiles of children,
the old and the deprived.

A symphony of colors
move,dance,serenade
in its fragrant meadows,
when nature embraces
a wandering heart.

Passionate colors
kiss the seasonal blues,
 autumnal leaves, snowy nights.
Warm summers, bridal sunsets,
 romancing moonlights, touch my senses,
as the rainbow kisses
the azurine skies.

So many colors
touch and merge
in the tinge of sorrow
in the tone of laughter.
All shades of existence I breathe,
as I walk through life.

The Fading Breathe

Day-26 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Inside Out (Form: Sonnet)

Image: Sneha

Faking, the plethora of emotions,
Lots of water has flown under the bridge,
The dirge of thoughts chase the hidden motions,
The phantoms of the past advance and merge.

A venomous labyrinthine serpent,
Arousing the darkness and nothing seen;
Guilt, sadness, desire, fate echo the chant,
Weeps in aching silence, the shriveled spleen.

The smell of soil beckons, the rusted flesh,
A fathomless, unquenchable life feel,
Whispering winds, the wheels of fate unleash,
On a deadening stench of burning peel.

The brewing storms, uncover the charade-
No time to introspect, the ongoing parade.

Take a Chance

Day-25 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: The Door Goes Both Ways (Form: Triquain)

Image: Sneha

Hold my hand,
Let's walk through the heartache
Let's burn together, in life's embrace
Tomorrow is a distant dream, no place for guilt
The barriers are too strong to break
Many thorns are strewn in
Still, let's walk.
Stand by me,
Walk through that silent door
Hear the rhapsody of soulful chimes
Time to feel the passionate fragrance of seasons
You cannot receive without giving
Take a chance for today
Hold my hand.

Thorns are strewn in, still, let's walk, hold my hand

(Here is a link..to one of my old poems. Wrote it some 10 years back ago, and got published in an anthology too. As it is related to DOORS, thought of sharing with you all. It is posted in my old blog...http://musingsofsurvival.blogspot.com/2009/12/invisible-doors.html )

The Song of my Desires

Day-24 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Opening (Form: Free Verse)

I am a flowing stream

Don't bind me

In worldly tangles.

 Let me go...let me flow...

Let me grow...

I have my own meandering waves

Let me feel the open air

The breathing fragrant nature

My companion and lover

Let me go...let me flow...

Let me grow...

Don't control my spirit

The spirit as old as time

I count the stars at night

I  feel the warmth of the sun.

Let me go...let me flow...

Let me grow...

My skin reflects

The human face

There are many secrets

Hiding in my warm heart.

Let me go...let me flow...

Let me grow...

Open my heart and see

Blushing lovers passions

Sad swelling of lost desires

An ancient chime of raging seasons

Let me go...let me flow...

Let me grow...

Control me, and you will find

A stagnated, stinking, slimy rhyme

Lost in the grimy sludge

Running out of time

Let me go...let me flow...

Let me grow...

Don't barricade my extending wings

My destination is waiting for me

Let my bosom feel the passion

The thousand miles of breathing visions

Let me go...let me flow

Let me grow...

She is the Truth

Day-23 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: See me

Image:Sneha
You see her skin
There is something within
You are blind

She is life
A universal truth
Open your eyes

See, below the layers
A heart that beats
Listen and feel

Touch her soul
Feel her lips
She breathes

A Ray of Trust

Day-22 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Betrayal (Form: Double Reversed Etheree)

Image: Sneha

Your honest betrayal left unhealed scars

Was too young and pure to understand

The eerie, cold, wintry nights

Left their marks in trusting life

Moves on triumphantly

The wheels of half lies

And you carry

The medals

Of  your

Deeds.

Chance,

You asked

When time came

Where was my trust

When you burned my heart?

The honesty of faith?

The loyalty of your grace?

I know, to heal, it takes a lot

In an agonizing sunset phase

Forgiveness tiptoes, in a silent chase.

Empty Promises

Day -21 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: How Will I Know (Form: Loop)

Image: Ather

How will I know!
Know you too feel
Feel the rising tides
Tides of moving notes.

How will I know!
Know the resonance
Resonance of a synchronized dance
Dance as old as pagan times.

How will I know!
Know your husky caress
Caress burning my heart
Heart blushing in a chant.

How will I know!
Know there is no chance
Chance, to cherish the love
Love, you and I have.

How will I know!
Know there is a verse
 Verse within verse rhyme
 Rhyme your heart with mine?

How will I know...
Know this is love or lust...

Arched Gateways

Day-20 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Time Stands Still (Form: Minute)

Image: Kishu

The ruins of a shadowy  past
In the arched art
Untold story
Of past glory.

Glories of regal opulence
Roaring romance
Legend of knights
In love's pursuit.

Captured in statues and folktales
Sea of images
The sands of time
Engraved in rhyme.

Silent Stream

Day-19 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: What do you want? (Form: A chant)

I know you want to say a lot more
And still, you don't say a word.

Your silence speaks louder than words
And still, you don't say a word.

There is a roaring rhapsody, beating in your heart
And still, you don't say a word.

I can feel the distant dreams of desire
And, still, you don't say a word.

There is a wall in between, which binds and separates
And, still, you don't say a word.

You want to enjoy the short and sweet moments
And, still, you don't say a word.

So many desires erupt in the honeyed nights
And, still, you don't say a word.

Time is short and  the heart wants to surrender
And, still, you don't say a word.

Listen! Love cannot bloom in silence
And, still, you don't say a word.

Winds of Destiny

Day-18 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Once Upon A Time (Form: Fable)

Image: From a friend

Once upon a time,
There lived a  pretty lass
On the wild coast of sunny paradise
She serenaded the breezy palms
Her world filled with many dreams
Weaving a carpet of magic
She wanted to travel far and wide.
She danced, pranced in youthful glee
Never letting sorrow touch her brows.
Life was an enchanting rhyme.

Oh! How she touched the sky when she felt happy!
She read, played, sang and danced in gay
There was nothing to stop her wild heart
Her life revolved around her loved ones
Her companions were the casuarina trees
Under their shade,
She wrote her dreamy verses
Nobody had the power
To change her fancy ways
Oh!How naive was she!

The forces gathered encore:
A prince in white armor
Displaying his shining epaulets
Saw the pretty lass
Dancing in the meadows
Her long hair swaying in the wild breeze
Her carefree laughter a fragrant chime
His heart felt the spell and went wild
He decided to tame her to his might.

Unknown to this sudden twist
The churning of tides
The lass was  lost in her world
She  had her happy dreams
She still had the sky in her eyes
Their winds of destiny were in charge
The prince set in motion to work
He tried every trick in the book
He followed her every track
He bribed her friends and flock.
There was no chance
For the lass to escape
She fell in the trap
Like a fish on a hook.

Destiny smiled,
It blew the winds
To rock her dreams
There was a thundering storm
It left debris and debris of broken dreams
Her life turned upside down
The forces of destiny were too strong.
She did try, to fight the odds
But she was wrong
One cannot fight one's fate
We are just pawns
In the hands of a greater force.

Then she understood...
Not every fairy tale has a happy ending.

A Cycle of Madness

Day-17 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Madness Reigns (Free Verse)

Image: Sneha

We are not perfect

Each one carries a mask to enact

Many mirrored images to reflect

Bracing each day

We find a role to play

Sometimes you act sensibly

Sometimes there is a mad frenzy

Time somersault in tenses

The embossed wrinkles

Wear a cloak of fragile egos

Making us realize

Life an ephemeral stranger

Carrying along with it

Too many travelers

To the mad mad world of emptiness.

A half-moon of sanity

Reins in a full moon of insanity

An insane desire to be different

An insane thirst to take the road less taken

There is a stream of madness

Running through the blood

Madness in solitude

Madness to fight against the odds

Madness to take wings

Madness in the throbbing  blues

Nothing can rein this craziness

There is only you and your crazy thoughts

While the entire world masquerade

You believe in being sane and insane

All at the same time.
