The Sunday Muse #202
They were friends
Those soundless words
Filling lonely hours
In silent raptures.
A woman was born
Understanding the world
Through the dancing muses
A lonely war she fought
Fighting against the odds
The world stood still.
In the periphery of solitude
Phrases, verses, words, and rhymes
Merged and created
A powerhouse of daring thoughts
She molded her dreams.
Immersed in those silent friends
Life took a full circle
When she faced the gender bias
She burned the patriarchal pages
Letting her actions
Speak louder than words.

Love how you articulated 'the female journey' .... well done!
ReplyDeleteBooks companioned my journey as well. I definitely relate to this poem, especially the burning of the patriarchal pages! Smiles.
ReplyDeleteYour poem echos the inspiration of the lives so many women have lived! The last line is a powerful close! I love this Sunita!
ReplyDelete“In the periphery of solitude” ... I love that. What a gift to truly have a mind of your own.
ReplyDeleteSunita, as I read this I thought of "know thy enemy." I see she gleaned what she needed then initiated the next level for herself. I love the empowerment in this <3
ReplyDeleteWhen she faced the gender bias
ReplyDeleteShe burned the patriarchal pages
Letting her actions
Speak louder than words
She is certainly a lady of strength Sunita, holding out on her own in any impending battle of the sexes.

As a child I loved to be at our small library, sitting on the small stairs (just 3 steps), reading books, one after another, until I read them all. Even those I didn't yet understand.
