The Sunday Muse #201
The winter,
In the heart
Wants to melt
But, the noises around
Tighten the grip
As senseless greed
Harvests a blood thirsty few.
The image of soft earth
Fragrant and welcoming
Takes back to a timeless space
Where free-spirited innocence
Wandered, embracing nature
Seamlessly, without care.
Memories, those cherished images
Humbles the existence
As a war crazy madness envelopes
The receding horizon.

This is so beautiful Sunita! The message is firm yet soft like bare feet upon the earth. Peace is what humanity needs but sadly greed has other plans. Always glad to see you at the Muse my friend.
ReplyDeletePoignantly current and heartwrenching

"As a war crazy madness envelopes / The receding horizon." Indeed.
ReplyDeleteThis is the feeling. Powerfully stated.
ReplyDeleteYes, our existence has certainly been humbled … an unprovoked war has seen to that, plus two years of Covid.
ReplyDeleteYes madness is overtaking us..
ReplyDeleteNicelyu written, and addresses today's reality well.
ReplyDeleteThis poem resonates with me - the winter in the heart wanting to melt, the soft earth "fragrant and welcoming" - and manmade madness going on in the midst of it.
ReplyDeleteThough this is a powerful poem, I like that you included
ReplyDeletesome of nature to soften it.
Wonderful escapism that brings relief.
ReplyDeleteWe want so much spring, summer, warmth, beauty...
ReplyDeletebut that war....
