1

You grow abundantly
In my mother's backyard
The luscious king of glory
A childhood memory.

Every seed inside
Flourishes into many
Sweet joy of wanting
Seeing a bunch of crowns in bloom.

You melt in the mouth
Cutting softly like an ice-cream
How your melting sweetness
Left a memory on the tongue.

Every summer
Little eager faces
Watched ardently
The change of colorful skins you wore.

Green to yellow, yellow  to orange
There was also a race for an early worm
A real challenge among
The monkeys, squirrels, parrots, and humans.

"Who would taste me first?"
You softly chuckled
With your crown shining
Waiting for the toss.

2.

"Why don't you eat me anymore?"
Your voice echoes in my conscious
How the taste buds eagerly waited for you once
Now, the blood veins sing a different tune.

The temptation is inevitable
You stare from the top
To see a happy smile
Looking at your luscious whorl.

But, life is treating you cruelly
You have been a favourite
Cherished vitamin of childhood
Now, the blood sugar avoids you totally!
