Day-25 NaPoWriMo-2023
Prompt: write a love poem. one that names at least one flower, contains one parenthetical statement, and in which some lines break in unusual places.
contemplating in solitude,
(how it would have turned out)
the chemistry of emotions
we felt a long ago.
there were days
( in different time zones)
itching- to sync at a pace
the rush was mostly to feel,
letting the emotions do the talk.
very short periods- of joy
between the scent of roses
a yearning left mid
-way
while the clock tick-
ed away.
we counted,
hours-
days-
weeks and months.
trying for a miracle
in the youthful passion
time played hide and seek
like a mirage in a desert.
out-
of the blue,
withered like autumn
a rushed heartbeat slowed down,
losing you,
to the tubes of lifelines.

This is a delicate, nostalgic love poem that pulls at my heart strings, especially the not knowing ‘how it would have turned out’, the long-distance relationship sometimes ‘in different time zone’ and the ‘very short periods- of joy’. I especially love the lines:
