The Sunday Muse #195
Photograph by Anita Sedberry at Harold Ross Fine Art Photography.
All beliefs confessed, die evenly
For grandeur harvested in
Joys keep losing momentum
Not once pride questions reasons
Seriously, to understand visions
When xeroxed youth zeroes down
Spiraling in a bottomless abyss
More or less, the smoked life
Sleeps peacefully in the shadows
Branching in the fragrant earth.

I love this so much.
ReplyDeleteThat first eloquent line really pulls the reader in! An amazing poem Sunita!
ReplyDeleteAn evocative write.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully executed first line to stir the mind throughout this engaging piece.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting rhythm, the lines feel like they fold into one another and then that last line echoes.
ReplyDeleteI like the smoked life lying peacefully in the shadows.
ReplyDeleteAll our pride put to sleep eventually, inevitably. Nice cautionary verse. Sunita.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday
