Day-5 NaPoWriMo-2022
Prompt: To write a poem about a mythical person or creature doing something unusual. My creature is a crow who has taken the characteristics of a cuckoo.
I woke up with a start
A hushed silence pierced through
What was that sound
So sweet and melodious?
Again, I let my soul wander
For that momentary pleasure!
Ah!! It came from my backyard
Concealed among the foliage
Such bliss in the voice
Serenading the morn galore
Dark and small it looked beyond!
I peeped through my window
Craning my neck to view
What a contradictory sight
Dark and melody entwined
In one of god's own miracles!
Ah!! the branches cradled
The beautiful voice
Among its midst atop
And lo behold!!
I gave a cry of pleasure
To see the king of melody
Nestled among the greens!
The sweetest voice
Of the dark countenance
Held me in its maze
And worked as an antidote
Against the darkened clouds of my soul!

Day-4 NaPoWriMo-2022
Prompt: To write a poem in the form of a poetry prompt.
You want to write a poem
But not in the mood to do so, right?
Do one thing before the muse runs away.
Close your eyes and transport yourself to your happy place.
Now, see if you are alone there or if somebody else is there with you.
Check if the place reminds you of some wonderful times.
You will see the beautiful things you have missed.
Did you notice Sun, sand, and beaches?
The waves lapping at your feet.
And the grainy sand tickling your toes.
The burnished sun bowing down the sea
And swaying palms waving goodbyes.
Did you see the birds sashaying in the sky?
You must have felt the heart burst out with joy
Now, open your eyes
Let those feelings you experienced speak
Pour down your emotions on the blank pages
Dance with them with sweetened similes and metaphors
Let your heart rejoice and fill your universe with rhymes and verses
See, you are a poet and poetry flows in your veins.

Day-3 NaPoWriMo-2022
As I pass my favorite place
Many memories of a lost time surface
The locked door fills the heart with an ache
There was so much joy in that tiny space.
It belonged to a favorite uncle
That cozy little space of aromatic pleasures
His daughters were my best friends
We three rocked that place with our laughter and pranks.
After school all three of us
Would plomp ourselves on the wooden chairs
The wafting aroma of samosas, pastries and mirchi bajjis
Made our tummies growl with hunger.
Three little girls in long plaits
Jumped and ran across the seats
Maybe our laughter added more charm to that place
Then the delicious snacks and hot piping masala ginger tea.
Uncle used to scold and frown
For creating such a ruckus non-stop
Infront of the customers
We three would giggle and walk out.
A tragedy struck!
The pillar of that place crossed over
The descendants couldn't keep up
And the cracks in the wall showed up.
Now, whenever I pass that place
And see that huge lock on the rusted door
A deep, helpless sigh escapes
Trickling down into a tear or two.

Day-2 NaPoWriMo-2022
Prompt: To write a poem devoted to obscure and interesting English words. I have taken a word from a featured tweet by Haggard Hawks.
There is a zing in the air
The fragrance of life
Seeps through the skin
A pristine muse
Assails the senses, announcing
The time of vernality
The shivered earth
Burst into verdant hues
There is a kaleidoscope of shades
Kissing the earthiness
The melody of a prism
Whispers through the branches
The air echoes as hummingbirds get busy
Suckling on the blooming sweetness
The colorful butterflies
Dance and prance through the foliage
While the buzzing honeybees
Trumpet the dawn of new pastures
Hope springs lustily
As Spring springs in breezily!
Word of the Day: VERNALITY (n.) the spring, a spring-like quality; the greenness and freshness of springtime [1600s]

Day One- NaPoWriMo-2022
Prompt: Prose Poetry
She was dead tired. She just wanted to take a hot shower, change her clothes, eat some dinner, and hit the sack. Suddenly, the shrill sound of the mobile phone gets her goatee. It was her sister on the line, "Hello, get dressed. I am coming to pick you up. We are going to Eliz's place". She lost her cool and shouted," Why now? It is so late. Can't we visit her tomorrow?". Her sister replied." Nope! I will be there in 10 minutes." She was zapped. Why were they meeting Eliz so late? She hasn't seen Eliz for decades and now her sister pushes her for a rendezvous with a childhood friend at a godforsaken hour.
There was no other option. She got ready in a simple salwar and waited. There her sister was in the driver's seat looking smug and mysterious. The surprise awaited at the other end. It was Eliz's husband Leon's birthday. She remembered Leon as a young kid in school. He was thin and clumsy. Now he wore glasses and looked like a giant and very handsome. His elder brother was her classmate and a childhood friend too. Eliz hasn't changed much. She was still pretty and lovely even in her 40s. The house was full of childhood buddies and old neighbors from her tiny village. Many sported salt and pepper and beer-filled paunches Leon and his team (Messi fan club) cut the cake. There was such camaraderie all around. The food was scrumptious. Especially, sandwiches, pudding, and caramel. She forgot how tired she was in her friends' company. By the time they reached home, it was already past 2am.#NaPoWriMo - 2022
Early Prompt- A line of Emily Dickinson's Poems.
In the times we live
Life has turned upside down
A disease here, a war cry there
Forever might be short.
A jotted line...
With unsaid words
Has left many broken dreams
In the pits of burning dust.
Forever might be short
As bloated egos
Control the universe
As innocents die somewhere
Wrapped in a gory shade.

However much life tests the patience
One does find the way
Peeping from the shadows
Even in the darkest hours
Insanity rules the world
Sowing the seeds of hatred
Every heart bleeds
Voicing for peace
Entrapped are the egos as
Reality is out of their reach
Young and old desperate to
Witness the hopeful chime
Heralding a new dawn
Effervescently hoping for
Righteousness to prevail as the
Earth, belongs to all, and every life counts.
