To a different
Age of existence
Life was simple
Happy and gay
There was no hurry
To climb the ladder
To overrun people
To make a career
One could embrace
The simple logic
Slow and steady wins the race.
Now, that logic
Sounds hollow
The world
Has turned on the run
A cutthroat hunger
Fills the belly
The fastest way
To succeed
Is to take a shortcut,
Cheat, use power,
Discriminate and
Achieve the goal.

Oh my! What a punch to the gut. Adulting is no good, right? I liked how you used the prompt.
