Broken

Day-22 OctPoWriMo-2019
Prompt: Broken
Form: Free Verse

In the tiny whorl

It breaks

Into a thousand pieces

There is nothing left

The stream dries up

The broken flesh cringes

Laden with numbered aches

Some are too strong

Some are already worn

Delving deeper

One finds

The stretched marks

Stained and dark

Not ready to mend

Not ready to bend

The harder the push

The darker they become

Those men-o-pausal blues.

  1. I had a very easy menopause, which I think is deserved since I had 40 years of periods from hell with bleeding to the point of hemorrhage and cramps that left me doubled over in pain. Good times!
Sometimes being a woman is not oodles of fun.
