Womb

Day-3 OctPoWriMo-2019

Prompt: Womb

Form: Free verse

In the soft folds of my being

Lies a universe

A universe, a life-giver, a warmth provider

The strength of existence shelters in its shadows.

It is the “Shakti”

An abode of devotion and creation

Life revolves around it

It breathes and tastes every powerful emotion.

Sometimes worshipped and sometimes ravaged

It has cradled humanity bearing the echoes of pain.

It has brought joy in the form of my own image

I am the force of this powerful piece of flesh.

It has become, a tool of choices I make

In the past and present and the shriveling future

The universe of my being will survive every fire.

  2. Nicely said. Odd how we women are often reviled for processes that are perfectly natural and, in fact, necessary for the life of our entire human race.
