Stream of Life

Day-11 OctPoWriMo-2018
Prompt: Falling through the Cracks (Free Verse)

Image: Sneha

I know,
you are ashamed of them,
Those scars on the waning valley.
It's a pity, you don't know
They are flags of my destiny.

There is no escape
When fate, thinks otherwise
You either sail or go against the tide.
They are the medals of the restless soul
For some, body shaming
Becomes an entertaining goal.

When you are at your lowest ebb
And they do not give a damn
You look at your wrists
Sometimes you ward off the demons
Sometimes you fight back the evil thoughts.

And then out of the blue
Courage holds your hand and you smile
There is an air of deja vu.
 Hey! This is my body!
I feel pretty in every way.
My grave will adorn, the layered tracks
How about making an effort,
To know what lies beyond the scars and cracks?
