“She must be very intelligent’, these words still resonate in my ears. My mother's reaction when she met my friend for the first time. You must be wondering what was so special about my friend. Well, nothing earth shaking. She wore glasses and a very huge one with a black frame perked on her nose. It made me laugh clearly knowing why my friend wore the glasses and my mother’s perception didn’t match at all :D In childhood, any youngster wearing glasses was considered nerdy. Good at studies and studious, Many taunts scudded our way, the naughty ones, from the elders for wasting our time playing, while the nerdy ones were busy with their books. Most of my friends and I would take turns to pull our friend's leg once in a while. We would hide her glasses and poor girl would stumble around without them. In that young age, the notion was that most of the elders sported glasses due to eyesight. Never heard about specialists in my small world of simpler joys and carefree days. For every ailment, we rushed to the GP for a cure.

However, things have changed. Recently, I have been to see an ophthalmologist for the first time in my life. I am five decades old and the eyes are showing their true colors. The doctor was advising that one should start wearing glasses after crossing forty seasons. Imagine I going all red, he missed a wonderful opportunity of not knowing me a decade back ago. :D. Now, I am looking ahead to sport one.
