Your honest betrayal left unhealed scars
Was too young and pure to understand
The eerie, cold, wintry nights
Left their marks in trusting life
Moves on triumphantly
The wheels of half lies
And you carry
The medals
Of your
Deeds.
Chance,
You asked
When time came
Where was my trust
When you burned my heart?
The honesty of faith?
The loyalty of your grace?
I know, to heal, it takes a lot
In an agonizing sunset phase
Forgiveness tiptoes, in a silent chase.

I like how you finish with forgiveness. I don't think I ever would.

Ah, yes! Forgiveness does seem possible as we age. Loved how the poem gradually becomes gentler towards the end.

Delete"forgiveness tiptoes, in a silent chase" - Beautiful line and perfect for the ending. The image this creates in my mind is one of someone tiptoeing behind another, one step forward and then pausing to see if they've been noticed and hiding when they think they have. This gives thought to the idea that at forgiveness is sneaking up on you and you'll find it when you least expect it. Wonderful etheree and one form I thought about when writing today's prompt. Well done poem, Sunita!
