Yesteryears

Day-29 NaPoWriMo-2019/A to Z Challenge 2019
Prompt: A poem that depicts a powerful emotional state that transits into a meditative stage.

                                                           watercolor by Prasanna Velagala.

When trusted mountains
Crumble before the eyes
The soul shuts down all doors
There is no inch of light in focus
Helplessness shakes the foundations
A huge tunnel of nothingness emerges
In the deserted lanes
How does one describe loss?
A crater in the pit of the stomach?
An emptiness stifled in the heart?
There must be different definitions
One can describe the words
Some synonyms more than antonyms
There must be some exponential power
Hidden somewhere, to erase that huge hole
That gaping wound still warm shrivel.

The emptiness, which lasted forever
Slowly becomes part of life
Is there any reason
To doubt the force of nature?
The cycle goes on, time heals in phases
Days transit into years and years into decades
Seasons shed colors, blooms, and drizzles
The power of being alive covers the tracks
There are days when everything feels safe
Nothing can touch the happy moors
Well, a slight difference does occur
When destiny interferes
In the cacophony of existence
Acceptance has a price to pay
Loss raises its tentacles
When the body, curls up in darkness.
