Hugging a Tree

Day-13 OctPoWriMo-2019
Prompt: Hugging a Tree
Form: Rondeau

(The pic is of my parents' place. We had more than 50 coconut trees spread across the front yard. I have spent some beautiful moments in their shade. Read books, dreamt and felt safe under the caressing canopy. But last year, nearly 21 trees were felled to make way for a flyover. My friends left without a goodbye  :( )

Memories, of my childhood days
Clear as today, in many ways
The loving companions so tall
Echoes the wind and touch my soul
Taking me to beautiful bays.

Had spent many hours in its shades
Long summers and cozy winters
Finding sweet peace against its wall
Memories...

Time  leaps into many seasons
Wet winters  and earthy summers
Ambition demands and trees fall
As roads spread on the gaping whorl
The roots mauled by man's greedy dreams
Memories...
