Scent

Day-8 OctPoWriMo-2019

Time stands still as life shifts in phases

Memories stealthily invade in hiccups

There are moments which are firmly clasped

And there are those which have moved with sands of time.

I remember so many of those scents of different hues and shapes

The fragrance of summers in the luscious mangoes and jasmine buds

The splashes of colors of the marigold and chrysanthemums garlands.

There is that silent knight in the shimmering waves

Bringing petrichor on its wings

The smell of burning earth enveloped in pearly drops.

The scent of childhood and the air of festivities

The burning of incense and the smile of a child at a temple doorsteps

My soul transcends as I remember the aroma of my grandmother's delicacies

Her soft eyes and her affectionate smiles...a fragrance of love effortless.

There is happiness in the scent of life

When sweet memories leave their footprints

The heart stays transfixed in sepia shaded reminiscences.
